SPRINGFIELD, Massachusetts (WWLP) – Personal classes at the Pope Francis Preparatory School in Springfield were detained after additional students received a positive COVID-19 test.

As of Monday night, the opening status of the Catholic school has changed to red, meaning students will study remotely to ensure the entire school community is safe. The red status period will last a minimum of two weeks with a preliminary re-entry date on September 29, which may begin under a hybrid plan.

The Pope Francis Preparatory School begins face-to-face training

I am grateful for the time we have spent on personal training and I am very disappointed that we have now switched. For the benefit of our entire school community, please continue to do your part, both inside and outside the university, to stay healthy by following the same protocols we use in school from wearing masks to washing our hands to social distancing. I urge students and families to limit their out-of-school contact with others during this time. There are many exciting opportunities, activities and sports on the horizon in Pope Francis Prep. Maintaining vigilance now and for the next two weeks is the only way we can safely return and keep personal instructions.
