“Pose”, “Knigart” among the honorees – Deadline

GLAAD hosted its first virtual edition of its GLAAD Media Awards and it was just as inspiring and fun as if we were personally kicking and honoring the media for honest, accurate and inclusive presentations of LGBTQ people and issues. If you weren’t able to watch the virtual ceremony, the 31st annual GLAAD Media Award will air on the logo on August 3rd.

The GLAAD Media Awards is hosted by Gina Yashere and Fortune Feimster

Hosted by the pool and outdoors by comedians Fortune Feimster and Gina Jaschere, the virtual ceremony included performances by award winner Tony and The politician star Ben Platt, as well as singer and activist Shea Diamond. The talented Chloe x Halle closed the show with a performance of “Do it” with the participation Drag Race by RuPaul scholarships Vanessa Vanjie Mateo, Mame Miller and Naomi Smalls.

The GLAAD studio’s responsibility index records a record high percentage of LGBTQ movies, but low racial diversity and the absence of trans characters

The winners in selected categories were revealed throughout the day via Twitter and included speeches for acceptance by each of the award recipients. The breakthrough Pose killed the ceremony as the drama FX took home the award for outstanding dramatic series with Mj Rodriguez, Billy Porter, Dominic Jackson, Angelica Ross, Inja Moore, Ryan Jamal Swain, Hailey Sahar, Angel Bismarck Curiel and Dylan Burnside, who accepted.

The cast shared a few words about how the series not only shook the television landscape, but also to honor the LGBTQ community and the center of Black and Latinx trans and queer people who are not surprised, allow themselves to be their own “own characters”.
