Sterling fell 1% against the dollar on Wednesday morning after a report said that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson would ask the queen to end parliament in a bid to force Britain's exit from the European Union on October 31
The BBC has announced that Parliament will be suspended days after members of parliament (MPs) return from their summer holidays and return only to the Queen to deliver a speech outlining the government's plans after Brexit on October 14th.
Johnson wants to strike a renewed agreement with Brussels before the deadline, but the two sides have been confronted with the issue of the Irish "backstage" issue designed to maintain a smooth border on the island of Ireland.
The highly controversial move, known as a "prophetic" parliament, will be seen as an attempt by the government to force through Brexit, with or without a deal, one of Johnson's key promises in power.
Opposition parties on Tuesday signaled an intention for uni in creating a law that would block Johnson from forcing Brexit without a deal that could hurt the British economy, according to several forecasts, and faced widespread opposition in the House of Commons.
The time of suspension will divert efforts by an inter-party group of MPs to introduce legislation blocking the no-deal scenario.
