Public Health England says the coronavirus variant B.1.617.2 is a concern

Public Health England announced on Friday that variant B.1.617.2 of coronavirus, which was first identified in India, will be classified as a problematic variant due to evidence that it is more portable.

It says other features of the option are still being investigated.

“There is currently insufficient evidence to show that each of the options recently discovered in India causes more severe disease or makes the vaccines currently in use less effective,” a statement from PHE said.
