Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has promised $ 500,000 to help small businesses

Barstool President Dave Portnoy hosted the Green Bay Packers defender live on Instagram on Friday, not knowing what Rodgers wanted to discuss. But soon in the conversation, Rodgers revealed his intentions by comparing Portnoy’s gift with the fund.

“I’ve been following you for a while and I love the brand and what you’ve done. But it goes far beyond anything you’ve ever done,” Rodgers said. “I just want to get involved. Every day the videos are so inspiring. I participate. I want to be in the same amount that you invested, $ 500,000.”

The Barstool Fund has raised more than $ 21 million to help small businesses affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and shares videos of recipients on social media. Several celebrities have already given money.

“They’re doing something the government isn’t doing,” Rodgers said. “It’s real money. It’s not.” Hey, we’ll put you on a list and try to work for you. “You get their money in 24 to 72 hours. It’s life-changing money.”

Rodgers said he hopes his donation encourages teammates, coaches, the NFL and his sponsors to give as well.

“My money is where my mouth is, and it’s a call to action for all those who continue to donate and do what they can,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers said he was moved by videos of recipients on social media.

“It’s for the people, for our people, who are the backbone of our culture,” he said. “And these are people from different walks of life and from different types of restaurants and businesses, and we need these things. That’s what makes this country great, it’s the people and this diversity.”
