Godfather of Surfer Guitar, Dick Dale died at 81 years of age. The cause of death is not yet known.
Queen guitarist Brian May shared an emotional statement after Dick Dale's death at Instagram. He writes:
"RIP Dick Dale – Father of the guitar for surfing. We all owe you. Rock. 59
See how his guitar is strung! He is a left hand, but plays a guitar with a right hand – except for controls and "horns".
So his heavy bass strings are at the bottom of the heel. This means that his fingers could never fall in the same shape as the rest. Maybe it made him use these low notes more often and more strongly than everyone around him. in connection with a similar sounding traditional flamenco Spanish guitar technique, which is actually done in a very different way, with many nails).
And a lot of echo effect. And thick strings. And lots of energy !!! Check out his early hit "Miserlou". Wild !!! I'd like to meet him. We really all benefit from his innovative idea. "

Dick Dale is the creator of the song called "Misirlou". This piece was featured over the opening credits to Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction.
