Queen Elizabeth still has much power as the sole sovereign over Megan Markle and Prince Harry despite Megxit.
The British ruler, who stood by the Duke and Duchess in their decision to become financially independent earlier this year, could reverse the whole scenario within months!
According to the royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams, “It is important to keep in mind that Harry and Megan are a unique case.
“They are non-working royalty, provided the agreement with which the Queen mediates in Sandringham is renewed before the end of next March.”
Although the terms of the royal departure allowed Harry and Megan to seek financial ventures and trade, the Megxit agreement was subject to a 12-month review.
“The royal family and Sussex have agreed to an initial 12-month review to ensure that the agreement works for all parties,” a source said at the time.
Therefore, Megan and Harry confirmed that there is a 12-month transition period.
They even said the same in an official statement, which reads: “Although there is a precedent for other titled members of the royal family to look for work outside the institution, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have a 12-month on-site inspection period.”
The 12-month duration is a period of release given by the Queen to departing royalty in an attempt to welcome them back if they regret their move.
In the meantime, the review will allow royalty to check “what works and what doesn’t.”
According to a source from the palace, quoted by the Daily Telegraph in February, “The point of the 12-month review is that the family wants the best for them and everyone admits that this is unexplored territory.
“Instead of doing something limited, it’s a pragmatic family conversation about what works and what may not work.”
