Queen Latifa defends the defenseless – deadline

Queen Latifah debuts as crime fighter under radar in CBS teaser Equalizer.

The teaser, which fell on Saturday, reveals the secret life of Robin McCall of Latifa. When Robin’s daughter asks her to leave work suddenly, Robin shares the increasingly popular response: “It’s complicated.” Robin’s videos, which protect themselves and others from dangerous situations, prove otherwise.

However, Robin’s daughter is not the only one who wants to learn more about her new side concert. Chris Knott’s William Bishop warns that the CIA is also looking for answers as Robin begins a new, dangerous lifestyle. While Latifa’s Robin is hesitant to answer questions about why she decided to be the new character, she knows exactly who she is and is not afraid to share it.

7;m the one you call when you can’t call 911,” Robin says confidently to a curious girl.

Equalizer, a rethinking of the classic series with Edward Woodward, will be awarded on February 7, after the Super Bowl. The cast also includes Lorraine Toussaint as Viola “Aunt Vi” Marset, Tori Kitsle as Det. Marcus Dante, Adam Goldberg as Harry Keshegian, Lisa Lapira as Melody Bayani and Laya DeLeon Hayes as Delilah.

Andrew Marlowe, Terry Miller, Dana Owens (Queen Latifah), John Davis, John Fox, Debra Martin Chase, Richard Lindheim (co-creator of the original television series Equalizer, aired on CBS for four seasons), Shakim Compere and Director Liz Friedlander (EP for pilot programs only) are executive producers of Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in collaboration with CBS Studios.
