More than many of his Republican counterparts, Davis made sure to wear a mask and follow the rules of social distancing. This, he said in a statement, is because his wife is a nurse and a cancer survivor, “which puts her at risk like so many Americans.”
Davis said his cabinet “has always followed and will continue to follow CDC guidelines, use social distancing, and wear masks or face masks when social distancing cannot be maintained.”
Davis postponed the public events that were planned for the next few days until he received a negative test.
Last week, Davis spoke with Republicans to stay safe amid the coronavirus pandemic after Texas Republican Congressman Louis Homer, known for walking the halls of Congress without a mask, tested positive for Covid-1
Urging his colleagues to follow safety recommendations, Davis told his fellow Republicans, “Don’t be stupid and be the news of the day.”
