Detectives in New York are investigating reports of two apartment thefts at Trump Tower on Sunday that resulted in stolen gems worth more than $ 350,000 – including a $ 117,000 diamond bracelet from a 59th-floor apartment.
Theft reports were first published by the New York Post.
One woman reports various pieces of gemstone inlaid from her cabinet on the 42nd floor. The items are thought to have disappeared between June 21 and September 9. A police spokesman told The New York Times that investigators have not located the suspect and are looking at anyone with access to the building.
Trump plans to stay in his penthouse on Sunday night. He will deliver a speech to the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday.
"It's not like anyone rushing into a building or wandering the halls, trying on doors until they find one that's open," a source told the New York Post. [1
The report says the thefts included a Earl's Diamond Bracelet and another $ 236,000 hiding place. This stash includes Harry Winston's diamond bracelet.
