Representative Elise Stefanick, a rising star in the Republican Party, is calling and building support among her colleagues to become the next GOP speaker of parliament, several sources told Fox News.
Stefanick, 36, has become a viable alternative to Republican leader number three if Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., Is removed from office immediately after next week.
Cheney survived a no-confidence vote in February after backing the impeachment of former President Donald Trump to incite Capitol riots on January 6. But Republicans have since caused more frustration with Cheney over her ongoing disagreements with Trump and GOP leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.
Cheney, 54, backed her vote for impeachment over the Capitol uprising and said she would not support Trump if he ran for president again in 2024.
REPUBLICANTS TO RETAIN CHENNA VOTE SOON
Republicans are watching a new vote on the chairman of their conference after Congress returns to Washington next week. The difference with this potential vote is that there is a great successor who looks after the work, according to one Republican.
“I suspect Elise Stefanik will be our conference chair for the next two weeks,”
Stefanik and her office did not immediately respond to Fox News’s request for comment.
But several Capitol Hill sources say she called her colleagues directly for support.
THE ROLE OF CHENEY AGAIN CHAIRMAN OF THE CONFERENCE IN THE REPORT AMONG TRUMP ENVIRONMENT
“She is beating votes in case Liz is ousted,” a GOP congressman told Fox News.
The road to Stefanik became a little clearer when the representative Jim Banks, a province of India, said that he would not run for president of the conference. Banks chaired the influential Republican Committee on Inquiry and played a key role in conservative communications against the Biden administration.
A Banks spokesman confirmed to Fox News that he would not run for Cheney.
Stefanic, RNY., Was first elected to the House in 2014 and was the youngest woman ever to be elected to Congress at the time, then 30. Her record was broken in 2019 when 29 -year-old representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortes, DN .Y., entered Congress.
LIZ CHENEY DOES NOT RULE THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL OFFER
Since then, Stefanik has risen to the ranks of the House Armed Services Committee and the House Intelligence Committee, where she was a staunch defender of Trump during their first impeachment of foreign interference in the 2020 presidential election.
She works hard to recruit, support, and elect more Republican women to Congress through her fundraising committee known as the E-PAC.
A source told Fox News that if Cheney is removed, it is natural for her to be inherited by a woman – and Stefanik is the best option. In addition to McCarthy, the other senior member of the top house is Steve Scalis, R-La.
Stefanik has built goodwill because she raised a lot of money for Republicans during the 2020 election cycle, when the GOP upset many Democrats across the country and elected 14 blue seats.

GOP’s new freshman class includes a record number of women who are willing to support Stefanik because she helped them in the campaign, a Fox News source said.
