Result Flight vs. Astros: Tampa begins trip to World Series as historic Houston return offer falls short

The Red Sox from 2004 can release champagne. They are still the only team in MLB history to return from a 3-0 deficit in the best of seven series. The Tampa Bay Rays won the American League flag with a victory over the Houston Astros in Game 7 of the ALCS on Saturday night (TB 4, HOU 2). Tampa led the series 3-0, but Astros forced Game 7 with victories in games 4, 5 and 6.

Charlie Morton shut down his former team in Game 7, holding Astros without a score in 5 2/3 passes before giving way to the bull. Home runs by Randy Arozarena and Mike Zunino gave Tampa an early pillow to breastfeed the rest of the way. Astros brought the green light to the plate in the eighth inning, but in the end it was too little, too late.

Now Astros saw their final season in a heartbreaking way in Game 7 years ago. Last season, the Nationals made a comeback with a late inning to win Game 7 of the World Series. This season, Houston̵

7;s attempt to return from a 3-0 deficit failed.

Here’s to home from the victory of Game 7 of Reyes.

Arozarena hosts again

Randy Arozarena is Atlas. His teammates insult him a little, so he just keeps fucking huge dives. Arozarena opened the scoring in Game 7 with a double home run in the first inning. It was his seventh home game in 14 games this season.

Homer came out on a quick ball over the plate and it’s kind of like amazing teams still throwing Arozarena heaters. According to DA network researcher James Smith, Arozarena is 10 on 20 with a triple and five homers against fast balls this season (.500 average watts and 1350 percent swimming). This means he is 11 for 32 with three pairs and two homers against everything else (.344 and .625). This is still great! But not as big as his numbers against fast balls. Arozarena’s seven home games are the most of a rookie for a postseason, breaking the tie with former Ray Evan Longoria (2008). Only three players have ever hit more homers in one postseason:

  1. Barry Bonds, 2002 Giants: 8 HR
  2. Carlos Beltran, 2004 Astros: 8 HR
  3. Nelson Cruz, 2011 Rangers: 8 HR
  4. Several leveled with 7 HR, including Arozarena

In addition, Arozarena already has 21 goals in the post-season period, tying him to Yuli Gurriel (2017) for second place rookie in a postseason. Derek Jeter had 22 goals as a rookie in 1996 after the season. Arozarena went 8 for 28 (.286) with four households in the series.

Morton dominated his former team

For the first time in MLB history, two players who qualified as teammates in one winner take all game faced each other as opposing starters in another winner take all game. Charlie Morton and Lance McCullers Jr. face the Yankees in Game 7 of ALCS 2017, then face off in Game 7 of ALCS 2020. Morton is only the sixth dude to ever face his former team in the game after season with a winner. The list:

  • Charlie Morton, Flight: 2020 ALCS v Astros
  • CC Sabathia, Yankees: 2017 ALDS v Cleveland
  • Roger Clemens, Yankees: 2003 ALCS v. Red Sox
  • Pete Vuckovic, Brewers: 1982 World Series vs. Cardinals
  • Jerry Royce, Dodgers: 1981 NLDS v. Astros
  • Lew Burdette, Braves: 1957 and 1958 World Series against the Yankees

Morton collided with his former teammates in Game 7. His fast ball averaged 95.3 mph, his highest average speed at the beginning of last year’s Wild Card game and the number of pitches from the inning was beautiful: 11, 12, 7 13, 6 , 17. He was dominant and effective and at one point withdrew 14 straight Astros. Morton has conceded no more than one run in each of his last five starts since the season, the second longest run in history (Kurt Schilling had six consecutive positions).

Houston has never received much of anything that contradicts the right ones. Morton was already the only pitcher in baseball history to win three games for all seasons (2017 ALCS Game 7, 2017 World Series Game 7 and 2019 AL Wild Card Game). He now has a fourth win in the game for the winner of all.

McCullers, on the other hand, passed the two-time home run to Arozarena and a second hong solo homer to Mike Zunino. These were the only three runs he allowed, but he needed 75 pitches to get 11 outs and failed four innings. Houston’s Wheels worked hard in games 4-6, and Jose Urquidi gave up insurance on the sixth inning victim.

Cash had a quick hook again

In Game 6, Flight manager Kevin Cash pulled out starter Blake Snell with the floor number at 82 in the fourth inning, and Snell was unhappy. “It’s just disappointing. Give me a chance. I want to be the guy who takes the team deep into the ball game,” Snell said afterwards.

The bulb continued to blow the lead. Fast hooks and bulls are what the rays do, and Cash sticks to the game plan in Game 7. Even with Morton’s cruise and the number of pitches sitting at 66, Cash went to his bull in the sixth inning. Michael Brantley was on the plate, presenting the relationship after a walk and an inner single. Unlike game 6, the quick hook works in game 7. Nick Anderson, who had allowed himself to play in each of his previous three outings, replaced Morton and received the inning-final ground ball from Brantley. Astros ran a pair of runs against Anderson and Pete Fairbanks in the eighth, but otherwise held the offense from Houston.

In two games for the winners this season (ALDS Game 5 and ALCS Game 7), Tampa employees kept the powerful Yankees and Astros violations to three runs and 10 goals in 18 assists. Quite a good way to win an elimination game, ie. Reyes has now won 63 games in a row, leading by seven assists, the longest active series in baseball.

The rays go to the world series

For the second time in the history of the franchise. They went to the World Series in 2008, but lost to Phyllis, so they are still looking for their first championship. Tampa will take the winner in game 7 on Sunday night between the Braves and the Dodgers. Game 1 of the World Series is scheduled for Tuesday night at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The Rays have not yet announced their plans to board, although Tyler Glasnov ranks 1st in the game with an extra day off. He is expected to receive the ball on Tuesday.
