Robert Pattinson’s singing abilities were exposed in Twilight if one listened closely. But although he played pubs before the saga and had two songs on the first soundtrack, Pattinson did not pursue a musical career. But that didn’t stop him from doing karaoke with Katy Perry in 2008. And it’s a must-see video, although Perry is rumored to have expired years later.
A lively video of Robert Pattinson and Katy Perry expires in 2013.

In a grainy YouTube video, Perry and Pattinson are in a karaoke bar singing their hearts on “I’ll Love You,” originally from Boyz II Men. They have the explosion, it seems, and they don’t really put much emphasis on sounding great, but rather bring out the words as best they can.
Eventually, Perry makes a cheeky comment about sitting down and finds himself on Pattinson’s lap. After all, Pattinson just speaks the text, which works just as well. This is such a fun video to watch and it obviously comes from 2008 when the two went out with friends. But it didn’t expire until 2013.
Perry was annoyed that he came out years later
It’s not clear why it took so long for the video to come out, or why it probably “leaked” from the place. In any case, Perry was not happy.
According to Capital FM, Perry told Australian radio station 2DayFM in 2013, shortly after it expired, that “nothing is sacred”. Apparently, the leaked video sparked rumors of dating in 2013, although it was shot in 2008. And she was not very happy.
“This is the media for you, nothing is sacred, not even karaoke,” Perry said. “We were just hanging out, one of my friends is a mutual friend, and we scattered and did karaoke, just like you.”
Of course, the video only shows who sings, so the rest of the band is just not on screen.
“Eight years later, it’s finally appearing on the Internet,” Perry continued. “At least it shows you that we’re just friends, like experienced friends.”
She then went on to talk about how men and women can’t just be friends or hang out platonically without society trying to connect the dots, especially for someone who was as popular as Pattinson.
“If you’re a girl, you can’t be friends with this guy, come on, here,” Perry finished. “I feel it for him.”
Pattinson is “competitive” karaoke
Pattinson did not actually comment negatively on the leak, although he did in an interview with MTV News. Interviewer Josh Horowitz asked him about karaoke in general, and Pattinson was candid about his karaoke etiquette.
“I’m becoming extremely competitive,” he said. “I’m like one of those annoying people who wants to say, ‘I want to sing well, not sing jokingly.’ ”
He also admitted that “it’s probably better to drink” when karaoke, as seen in the leaked video. He also shared a great story about Hugh Jackman and Baz Luhrmann, who once did karaoke with Pattinson, in “outfits for Japanese schoolgirls” while singing ABBA.
When it came to Perry’s video, Pattinson said he was “really crazy” that it expired so many years later and he had no idea the video was even shot.
Until Pattinson releases an album (which will probably never happen), fans can add this to the list of his “performances” online.
