The Jets have reset their first finalist.
The team will bring in 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh for a second interview on Tuesday, according to the NFL. The Jets spoke to Saleh in practice on Friday. He will now meet in person with Jets brass in Floram Park as the team narrows its search.
It is known that so far the Jets have interviewed nine candidates. Now they are entering the next phase, where they will bring several finalists for personal meetings. They can’t do personal interviews with anyone who’s still in the playoffs: Bills offensive commander Brian Daball, Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, Saints second coach Aaron Glenn and Chiefs offensive coordinators are all Chiefs Eric Bieniemy with matches this weekend.
Saleh, 41, is a popular coach in this hiring cycle. He has also interviewed lions, jaguars, falcons and chargers in addition to jets. Some consider him the best candidate in Detroit.
