Last December, Epic Games began adding iconic video game mascots to its multiplayer with the free Battle Royale game. Fortnite.
First, there was the PlayStation God of War Kratos, and this was followed by the arrival of the Chief of Staff Hello series. At the time, Switch players were wondering if a Nintendo representative could show up, leading to speculation that bounty hunter Samus Aran of Metroid series will join the party.
Although this did not happen in the end, it seems that the discovery has already been made as part of the quarterly business review of Epic Games 2020 (focusing mainly on Fortnite), which is now publicly available as part of the ongoing Epic v. Apple.
The following images of Kratos and the Chief is what appears to be a Samus fan from the Metroid series. This was followed by a shot of the anime character Naruto and even movie characters like John McClain from die Hard and Snake Plisken, the star of Escape from New York.
As can be seen in this document, there are many signs that have and I’m not has been released into the game – so it’s not clear at this point whether these unannounced characters will also join the Fortnite universe.
They could also be symbolic skins that were meant to be added to the game but never got the green light from the owners of the respective IP or maybe they are still on the road? If we hear anything else, we will let you know. Would you stop at Samus at Fortnite? Leave a comment below.
