SEC Football Schedule 2020: Florida-Texas A&M, Auburn-Tennessee Announce New Conference Game Announcements

Now, look:
Which SEC program would benefit the most from leaving the conference?

The SEC announced last week that it would play a schedule for only 10-game conferences this season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The focus immediately turned to the biggest question: Which two opponents are added to each team’s schedule? This question was answered on Friday when the conference announced these new opponents for all 1

4 teams.

Each SEC team plays one regular opponent in cross-division and another rotating opponent in cross-division under normal circumstances. This year’s format requires two additional rotating opponents of the cross-division in addition to one opponent of the cross-division, which was already in the schedule of each team.

“We have made every effort to create a maximum racing schedule and upgrade the existing eight conference games, which were already planned for 2020,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement. “This schedule is a one-year anomaly that we developed under unique circumstances represented by the impact of COVID-19.”

Here’s a look at the two additional opponents added to each SEC team’s schedule.

The full week-by-week schedule must be submitted next week, and opponents of the schedule do not have to play on the same dates as previously announced. It will begin in the traditional Week 4 on September 26 and end with the game of the SEC championship game at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on December 19, two weeks later than originally planned.

Each SEC team will have a bye week on December 12 – one week before the conference match. This standby week can be used to compile any games affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, or as an additional week for teams to prepare for a match of the conference title.
