Several dozen cases of viruses have arisen in the ranks of the USC fraternity

A coronavirus epidemic occurred this summer on a street near the University of Southern California, where many fraternities are located, the Los Angeles Times reported. The university found about 40 cases of people living on 28th Street who tested positive for COVID-19, said Dr. Sarah Van Orman, Chief Student Health Director at USC. Van Orman said a significant number were linked to the fraternity’s four houses, but it was not clear that the infections were related to fraternity members who often rent premises in the summer, the Times reported on Thursday. now it’s mostly over, with no new cases in the last week or more, Van Orman said. A total of about 150 USC students and staff tested positive for the virus. The university’s plans for the 2020-2021 academic year require most students to study online, but some will be on campus, implementing measures such as strict physical distancing. Housing will be limited to one student per bedroom in USC living rooms, apartments and suites. Some rooms will remain unoccupied so that there is room for students to quarantine if an attack of infections occurs during the semester. On August 3, USC will have an outside company launch a program to test populations on campus to identify, isolate and track contact and contain new infections.

A coronavirus epidemic occurred this summer on a street near the University of Southern California, where many fraternities are located, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The university has found about 40 cases of people living on 28th Street who tested positive for COVID-19, said Dr. Sarah Van Orman, chief student health director at USC.

Van Orman said a significant number were linked to four fraternity houses, but it was not clear that the infections were related to fraternity members who often rent premises in the summer, The Times reported on Thursday.

The outbreak is largely over, with no new cases in the last week, Van Orman said.

In total, about 150 USC students and staff tested positive for the virus.

The university’s plans for the 2020-2021 academic year require most students to study online, but some will be on campus, implementing measures such as strict physical distancing.

Housing will be limited to one student per bedroom in USC living rooms, apartments and suites. Some rooms will remain unoccupied so that students have a place to quarantine if an outbreak of infections occurs during the semester.

On August 3, USC will have an outside company launch a program to test campus populations to identify, isolate, track contact and contain new infections.
