LEXINGTON, KI. (LEX 18) – Interstate 75 in Lexington has reopened after a fatal two-vehicle crash involving traffic for several hours. It is confirmed that six people died in the accident.
At around 12:23 pm, a car called the police station, which entered the northern lane of I-75 around a 104-mile marker in the wrong direction. The 38-year-old woman in the dark car crashed head-on into the white car around the 102 mark.
A dead child was found in the front passenger seat of the white car. An additional three children and a 30-year-old driver of the white car were taken to a local hospital. They all passed away due to their injuries.
The Fayette County Jury did not release the names of those involved.
Traffic was supported for nearly three hours. Traffic was diverted at Exit 99, north of the Clay Ferry Bridge, to Old Richmond Road.
