WEYMOUTH, MA (AP) – Massachusetts animal control officials say a skunk who attacked a 2-year-old girl in her grandmother's backyard tested positive for rabies.
The baby's grandmother, Betty Bennett, says the skunk is hooking her granddaughter Fatima's leg near the back door of the Weymouth duplex on Monday night.
The girl's mother raised the girl and tried to shake off the animal.
Fatima also had scratches on her arms and legs. like a bite on the leg. She was taken to the hospital where she was given her first dose of rabies prevention treatment.
