When the massively popular messaging application at Slack for the first time revealed that he would be wondering about his unique collapsible wheel hessa logo, I found a silver lining anyway. "At least it has a nice purple background," I thought when I first saw the new icon appear on my Android phone. But it seems Slack is dead to make his logo generic. probably because it is now replacing purple with a white background.
Just like half the other applications on my phone.
Unbelievable, Slack says the move is meant to make it easier to notice the Slack application:
Today, you'll notice Changing the Mobile Application icon from purple to white. This should make it easier to see on your device. Visit Google Play or the Apple App Store to update it.

That I say:
Yes, definitely less confusing.
It also seems like nothing like Apple's default app, but I guess it's a little harder to notice the hidden swap of the Slack logo in the negative space now.
Below in the bottom right corner, you can see the Slack phone logo as it was temporarily on phones. I will miss the purple.
