So long, “gay Bowser” – fans complain about the loss of the most famous line of Mario 64 in Super Mario 3D All-Stars • Eurogamer.net

The famous line of Mario “gay Bowser” is not in the version of Super Mario 3D All-Stars on Super Mario 64 – and fans wave sadly goodbye.

In the original N64 masterpiece, Mario shouts “so long, gay Bowser!” As he catches Bowser in the final battle with the boss. Here’s how it sounds:

Fans have spent years trying to figure out what the dialogue is about ̵

1; or even sound right. As time passed, the line became a meme and we all moved on.

Until April 2019, when Charles Martinet, Mario’s voice, took to Twitter to insist that Mario say “King Bowser for so long!”, But no one bought him. A fan restoration released in July 2020 sounds even louder, as if Mario says “gay bowser”

As reported by Kotaku, Mario doesn’t say “gay Bowser” or anything like that in Mario 64, which is in Nintendo Switch’s Super Mario 3D All-Stars. Instead, Mario says, “Bye!” while throwing Bowser. This seems to be because Nintendo has emulated the Super Mario 64 Shindou Pak Taiou version for the collection.

The little-known version of Super Mario 64 Shindou Pak Taiou was released in Japan in 1997, a year after the original, and includes some key differences. One of them is Mario, who says “bye!” as he throws Bowser and this is obviously because Bowser is known as King Kooper in Japan and therefore the “gay Bowser” line needs to be replaced.

As you would expect, there are many people who complain about the loss of the “gay bouser” line. So long, gay Bowser, it can be said.

Then come on, what is Mario? really says in the original? If we can all agree, Martinet doesn’t say “gay bowser” what is he says? So long, dear Bowser? So long, King Bowser? So long – Bowser? Or does he actually say so long, gay Bowser? Reply in the comments.
