St. Joseph Health receives additional doses of Moderna, offering vaccine clinics by appointment only

BRIAN, TX (KBTX) – St. Joseph Health says he has received additional doses of the Moderna vaccine and will start administering them to phase 1B patients later in the week through a series of clinics.

Vaccine clinics will be set up by appointment only. Hospital officials say patients must have an appointment and have received confirmation to receive the Moderna vaccine. Those who do not have an appointment are asked to register online for future distributions of vaccines that St. Joseph receives.

In a press release on Sunday, St. Joseph Health said: “Healthcare professionals and first responders received the vaccine as part of phase 1

a, as outlined by federal guidelines, to ensure that health systems can continue to provide care during the pandemic and beyond. St. Joseph Health follows the CDC and state guidelines for prioritizing vaccines, which includes health professionals who are at higher risk due to where they work, as well as other factors. Phase 1b criteria include people of all ages with comorbid and underlying conditions that put them at significantly higher risk.

In St. Joseph Health safety is our priority and we only use vaccines that the FDA recommends as safe and effective. Although there are always unknowns when a new vaccine is being developed – including duration of protection, long-term safety or how the vaccine may respond to viral mutations in the future – there is enough evidence to know that the proposed vaccine is safe and should be encouraged. “
