Press release from the Humboldt Joint Information Center:
A total of 2,124 residents of the county tested positive for COVID-19 after 93 new cases were reported today.
Employees of the Humboldt County Center for Public Health and Emergency Operations are in the process of planning vaccinations for all other Phase 1A health care providers. Health Officer Dr. Jan Hoffmann said that while implementing early stages of vaccine distribution is a challenge, the county is steadily advancing. “We continue to build relationships with suppliers and strengthen existing relationships with others to provide this vaccine to as many people as possible,”; he said.
Dr. Hoffman went on to say that those in phase 1A and working in health practices or offices who have not planned vaccinations should contact the Joint Information Center at 707-441-5000 for more information.
State guidelines for Phase 1B, which will focus on people over the age of 75, have not yet been published.
Daily and weekly datasets are updated in the Humboldt County Dashboard. Some highlights include:
- The confirmed incidence rate in the county is 1,593 per 100,000 residents. Both state and national rates are more than four times higher – 6760 and 6880 per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively.
- Confirmed cases have increased by 9.6% in the last week.
- The time to double the case is now 41.5 days.
- Just over 26% of cases are confirmed in the age group 20-29, the highest percentage of each group.
