HBO Inheritance and pop Crete Crete confirmed their status as a host in the categories “Outstanding Drama and Comedy Series” Emmy, respectively, receiving their first Emmy Awards.
At the beginning of Night 4 at the Emmy 2020 Creative Arts Awards, Inheritance won Casting for a drama series (Avy Kaufman, Francine Maisler) while Crete Crete took Casting for a comedy series (Lisa Parasin,
John Commerford). This was the second consecutive nomination in the second year category Inheritance; it was Sheets Creek first nomination for the sixth and final season. In fact, it was Crete Creteis Emmy ‘s first victory NEVER. It was Inheritanceis fourth overall.
The “Casting for Comedy and Drama Series”
Last year HBO Game of Thrones and on Amazon Fleabag triumphed in both casting categories before scoring top series Emmy next weekend. In fact, for three of the four years Game of Thrones won a drama series Emmy, won a casting for a drama series.
The correlation is especially strong on the comedy side. For the last five years, the “Comedy Series” and “Comedy Series Casting” categories have given the same winner each year, Veep (2015, 2017). The wonderful Mrs. Meisel (2018) and Fleabag (2019). On the drama side, there are two discrepancies over the five-year period, s The crown and Strange things collecting the trophy for casting, but losing from Game of Thrones and The maid’s tale, respectively for the best drama.
For Inheritance and Crete Crete, which are already gaining momentum as the shows hit the best screenplay categories, tonight’s awards simply add to their solid Sunday odds.
