Suns vs. Nuggets: Chris Paul helps Phoenix dominate Denver in Game 2 for a 2-0 lead

The Phoenix Suns pulled out a dominant 123-98 win over the Denver Nuggets in Game 2 on Wednesday night to take a 2-0 lead in the second round. The victory was the fifth in a row for Phoenix this season. Chris Paul led the Suns with 17 points, 15 assists and zero turnovers. Paul’s turnover-to-turnover ratio in the series is now a staggering 26-1. Devin Booker also added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Rising Suns.

Phoenix looked a step faster than Denver at both ends of the floor in the second game, as he got almost everything he wanted on the offensive end, while making it difficult to defend on defense. All five Suns starters scored in double digits, compared to just two for the Nuggets̵

7; top five. Freshly cut MVP Nikola Jokic walked the Nuggets with 24 points, 13 rebounds and six assists, but his output was not enough, especially with minimal help from the boys around him. Moving forward, Nuggets coach Mike Malone will have to find a way to drive his team, especially Aaron Gordon and Michael Porter Jr., who combined just 17 points in a 6-out of 20 in Game 2.

The only good news for the Nuggets right now is that the series, if it is about to move to Denver for Games 3 and 4. There, the Nuggets will obviously look to play better than they did in Phoenix. Unfortunately for Denver, math is not on his side. A total of 430 playoff series started 2-0, and only 28 times did the team that won the early lead fail to win the series for Land of Basketball. That’s less than seven percent of the time. The latest example of this happened in the first round this year, as the Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Dallas Mavericks in seven games after the first two games of the series were eliminated. So, this is not an impossible achievement, but it is unlikely. The Crowds obviously can’t think about the odds, as their full focus should be on Game 3, which is scheduled for Friday night.
