Leaks around the iPhone 12 range have not been encouraging lately, but what is perhaps the most eye-opening upgrade of the new phone has just been confirmed.
The new iPhone 12 range will come with a large round set of magnets inside. After numerous hardware leaks, 9to5Mac confirmed the last piece of the puzzle (Why are they there?) after the site released a video showing a prototype of Apple’s new magnetic wireless charger.
The device in the video is stereotypical for Apple: a minimalist white circle with a charging coil and a connector on the back. In addition, 9to5Mac notes that when comparing the charger with expired circuits on the iPhone 12’s magnetic circuit, “the dimensions of the charger shown in today’s video” look fine.
In addition, these magnets are expected to do more than just support accurate placement on the charging pad. It is also understood that they herald the emergence of a new set of magnetic accessories, such as car stands. Sales of magnetic wireless chargers and accessories should be a big “helping hand” from Apple this year, as the company will remove the standard wired charger from the iPhone cases.
And expect a lot of choice. 9to5Mac says the prototype could be “Apple’s development unit, which the company will provide to third-party accessory manufacturers, similar to what it does with the Apple Watch charger and other parts through its MFi program.” Which means that regardless of the design Apple chooses, you can expect official magnetic wireless chargers of all shapes and sizes to hit the market soon after the release of the iPhone 12 (increasingly mysterious)
The addition of magnets is also welcome in the iPhone 12 range, which seems to be becoming less ambitious as we learn more. The front and middle are serious concerns about battery life, which means that the performance of the ambitious new phone charging system can only be the most important upgrade in them. Especially with Apple, whose advice is to launch the iPhone without a port in 2021.
