The Buccaneers of Tampa Bay will face the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl next month, a game that will feature defensive champions and a team that has not attended an NFL title game in nearly two decades.
The Buccaneers defeated the Green Bay Packers 31-26 to secure the NFC title. The bosses defeated the Buffalo Bills, 38-24, to win the AFC title.
The Buccaneers will be the first team in NFL history to play a Super Bowl game at their home stadium at Raymond James Stadium on February 7.
In brief comments, after his team beat the Packers at Lambo Field in Wisconsin, coach Bruce Arians attributed the victory to quarterback Tom Brady, who left the New England Patriots last year after 20 seasons and six Super Bowl victories.
“It only took one person,”
Despite early missteps, the Chiefs roared back, scoring 21 points in the second quarter and firing Bills star quarterback Josh Allen four times during the game. The Chiefs opened as favorites with 3 points.
Asked after the game how Brady and the Pickers could win, Kansas City quarterback Patrick Maomes said he and his teammates “just have to be ourselves.”
“I trust my boys more than anyone,” he said.
Mahomes led the franchise to its first Super Bowl victory in half a century last year with a 31-20 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
Last year, Mohomez agreed to a historic $ 500 million contract extension after being named the league’s most valuable player and is believed to be a contender for MVP in the 2020 season.
Brady, who has been MVP three times, is also believed to be involved.
