Taylor Swift gave a sweet shout to her mother after winning the CMT 2021 Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee, on Wednesday.
The singer won the award for best family film for the re-release of her song “The Best Day” and the subsequent music video, which contains real footage from a home movie from the childhood of the 31-year-old Grammy winner.
Although Swift was not present at the awards, she took to Twitter shortly after the victory to share the video with her name announced as the winner. In her post, she took some time to thank one of the stars of the award-winning video – her mother Andrea Swift.

The video for the song, which originally appeared on her 2008 album Fearless, includes several personal home movies and unprecedented photos of Swift in his youth with his family. It contains several intimate family moments such as cuddling with his mother, watching fireworks, eating ice cream and building a gingerbread house for the holidays.
The sweet tweet comes months after Swift revealed to the world that her mother had been diagnosed with a brain tumor during treatment for a cancer that was returning for the second time. Speaking to Variety at the time, the singer revealed what the news meant to her and her family.
TAYLOR SWIFT SAYS IT WILL PAY “SO MUCH” TO OWN ITS MASTERS
“Everyone loves their mother; everyone has an important mother,” Swift said. “But for me, she really is the driving force. Almost every decision she makes, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to talk about her illness.
“She was undergoing chemotherapy and that’s hard enough for a person to get through,” she continued. “While she was undergoing treatment, they found a brain tumor.”
“And the symptoms of what a person experiences when they have a brain tumor are nothing like what we once experienced with her cancer. So it was just a really hard time for us as a family,” Swift explained.

“My conversations with my mother have always been and will be some of my favorite memories – from the time I was 10 months old in this video in October 1990, until now every day on the phone. Our conversations are everything to me. Myyyyyy God, I love you mom. Happy Mother’s Day, “she wrote at the time.
