Tesla launches new, cheaper model S and Model X with software limited battery pack

Tesla updated its Model S and Model X models today by launching cheaper options with a software-limited battery pack and shifting the "Ludrickus upgrade" from the Performance version.

The car maker made some other changes to its options and Electrek brings you all the details here:

After Elon Musk announced that Tesla cut off a 75 kWh battery for Model S and Model X, there was a lot of speculation that Tesla would replace it with something else.

Many hoped for a hardware upgrade, but Tesla instead goes back to its old "limited software" model – which means it only produces one battery for Model S and Model X, a 1

00 kWh package, but offers two options and one is restrictive

The company is also moving away from using its battery's energy capacity as part of its naming scheme.

This is something that Tesla has already begun to do with Model 3, but now it is spreading to

Here's the new S model and Model X model of Tesla:

What Tesla now calls " Model S and Model X "are the base version of the electric sedan and SUV equipped with software locked with a 100 kWh package. [19659002Teslainthecapabilityoflockingthebattaliontoincludethemostadvanced75kWhversions:

Model S and Model X with a full 100 kWh package, formerly known as the S model and the X 100D model Now they are simply called "Model S and X Extended Range Model."

Nothing really changed for these models outside the name, but Tesla made $ 1000 cheaper:

    • Model S Extended Range
      • Price: $ 93,000
      • Scope: 335-mile

The version versions that were once Model S and the X P100D are now called "Model S and X Performance" – just like the Model 3 performance.

But now they're also cheaper, because Tesla divides "Ludrickus Upgrade" from the release versions, making them cheaper.
