Tesla gradually releases its new Sentry Mode feature to prevent breakthroughs and learn new interesting details of the mode as it reaches more Model 3 owners.
As we reported last week, Tesla released the new Sentry Mode. "Protection against burglary and theft".
The system uses autopilot cameras to detect "potential threats" and goes through different levels of alarms based on open "threats".
Now, Tesla describes the Sentry mode in a new alert when it is activated:
"Sentry Mode allows your vehicle to be familiar with the surrounding environment while parked with sensors, microphones, cameras and computers. While active, Sentry mode evaluates the risk of theft or vandalism, writes video, activates visual and audible alarms, and sends mobile notifications when needed.
While Tesla does not deal with the leakage that Sentry Mode has on the battery, the manufacturer notes that a minimum battery level is required to activate the feature.
Note: Additional battery power is consumed while Sentry mode is active. To activate the battery level from Sentry mode must be greater than 20%.
The storage of cadres, if a threat is discovered, is another concern of some owners. In the note Tesla states that it temporarily supports footage on its network:
"Sentry mode will send Tesla footage to temporary backup and enhancement of features. You can enable or disable this collection at any time by setting the DATA SHARING video in Controls> Settings> Safety & Security.
The initiative should prevent loss of footage if the USB device is lost.
Tesla slowly releases the new Sentry mode for its fleet.
CEO Elon Musk said Tesla will release a new update to make it easier to activate the parking feature.
With several upgrades, I think Sentry Mode can be a really useful feature and impressive to be pressed simply by updating the software.
In the note Tesla also writes:
the alarm is triggered. Avoid leaving conscious beings in the vehicle when the Sentry mode is active.
