COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Texas A&M student who was struck by a suspected drunk driver while going home with friends has died, her family reported.
Carly Beatty is home. hospital in Houston after being hit while crossing Texas Avenue at College Station in the early hours of Sunday, September 15th. the car that crashed into Beatty.
On Sunday, September 22, the family released the following statement about Beatty's passing:
"On September 14, 2019, our daughter Carly Beatty, a 19-year-old sophomore at A&M University, College Station, fell victim to a bang and running away from a friend's house with her roommates in college. After prolonged operations and life-saving efforts, Carly lost her battle to recover from her injuries today. Words cannot describe our sorrow and sense of loss.
As we look toward the sky, we know that Carly's life has touched many. A kind and generous girl loved by her family, including her mother, dad, and two older brothers, growing up in Frisco, Texas, as well as her extended family and friends. She enjoyed her church, her insight, the Capa Delta and as a member of the A&M Freshmen Leadership Organization (FLOC) team. Her love for animals has made her a lifeline to many pets, volunteers at the SPCA and studies veterinary science at A&M. Carly's joyful and loving spirit will be missed by many.
We are deeply touched by all of you who have approached our family with care and support during this difficult time. We are immensely grateful and hope you will join us in celebrating Carly's life at her memorial service. Date and time to be announced. "
KBTX announced on Saturday that the suspect was arrested again last week after police added additional charges to the case. Click here to see this report.
Online records from the jail Sunday morning show that Puga remains at the Brazos County Detention Center. Bonds for his new fees total $ 250,000. KBTX contacted College Station police to find out about the case and whether additional charges will be added after the news of Beatty's passing.
