LOS ANGELES – If there was any long-running confusion about what Dustin Dogman Baurman had in mind in his comments to Dallas head coach Aero Atkins on Saturday after the game, he quickly cleared them at a press conference.
"He's a nice guy, I just think he's incompetent," Dogman told reporters shortly after Atlanta beat Dallas, 3-1, in The Novo.
Moments earlier, in an interview after the match on stage, Dogman expressed his dissatisfaction with the selection of Aero's Team USA team. Four players in Atlanta are Americans, but no one is participating in the US team that will compete in the 2009 Overlizatch World Cup via BlizzCon.
Aero said he did not hear what Dogman said on stage after the match, and Dogman did not confront reporters until after Fuel's media availability.
But Aero talks about the selection
"We did a full testing process," said Aero, "and although these guys were not selected, we tried to make this a level playing field for everyone who came out because South Korea and The US is the two (countries) that have the most players in the Overwatch League, who are on the one hand
"So we had a number of players to try and do, and it just didn't happen. "
Dogman's thoughts on Aero's coaching abilities are not limited to choosing a World Cup roster.
" Also about his coaching of Dallas Fuel for sure, "he said.
Nathan" FRD " Gobel, who stood next to Dogman during Atlanta media coverage after the game, told Dogman that he
Dallas, who lost his 12th straight game Saturday and finished 15th in the regular season, did not win a match from June.,
Dogman said he would withdraw for Team USA during the World Cup.
DPS Forest player in Dylan "aKm" Bignet was visibly annoyed when told about Dogman's post-game comments before Dogman questioned Aero's coaching competence.
"He's just looking for attention. That's what he does," AKm said. "There are a lot better players than him in America, so he has not been raised. It is understandable (to be disappointed), but at this point you just accept the criticism.
"If you are not good enough to make Team USA, go ahead, work hard and try to be there next year. This is all you need to do instead of trying to find attention. "
In June, Aero tweeted about the team selection process. Read the full statement below:
Hello everyone, Aero here to talk a bit about the OWWC testing process in the US and our list of 12 people.
This year 30 players were invited to participate in a 4-week, 2-2-2 lock-in trial, in which the coaching staff and the committee evaluated the player's skills, adaptability, communication, leadership and teamwork. This gave players a unique opportunity to play with new, current and former teammates. With the completion of this trial, I am extremely happy to speak to our 12 members.
There are an incredible amount of talented players in the US, so we decided to roll over the cast to have 3 main tank players and 5 DPS players in our 12 player lineup this year. Since Moth and Space are particularly prominent players in their roles, we are confident that this distribution is a good fit for both current and future metas.
Thanks to each participant, the trial process was very fun. Being on the list of 12 people in the US is a great achievement. Big congratulations to those who did. For those who did not, this process was extremely competitive and we made no decision. Keep your head up and keep grinding! The Committee is extremely excited about hosting the World Cup this year and cannot do it without all the incredible fans. #WeBelieve
