The best laptops CES 2021: Top laptops, 2 in 1 and ultraportable

This year’s CES is completely virtual, with no personal events, viewing exhibitions or after-hour parties in Las Vegas. Despite this stark contrast from previous years, one thing has not changed: the flood of new messages for laptops.

To help you get through all this, ZDNet rounds out the best new laptops, 2-in-1 and ultraportable from the annual Consumer Electronics Show. We collect first-class platforms designed to do the job. We can also include some gaming laptops, as they are still powerful computers, ideal for business or intensive daily tasks such as video editing.

Acer’s Predator line of gaming laptops has been updated with the new Predator Triton 300 SE.

Acer Predator Triton 300 SE has a 14-inch FHD screen with 144Hz refresh rate. It lasts 10 hours of charging, has an RGB backlit keyboard with three zones and supports connection options such as Thunderbolt 4, USB 3.2 and HDMI. It is powered by Intel’s 11th generation H-series processors and is configured next to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3060, which helps it offer 10% better performance than its predecessor.

The Predator Triton 300 SE also has fan tips and a wind guide to increase intake air and redirect airflow. It is 0.7 inches thick and weighs 3.75 pounds.

Asus ROG’s latest machine is a multi-screen laptop, similar to its dual-shielded Zenbook platforms.

Called the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 SE, it has a secondary screen between the keyboard and the main screen. The second display is designed for multitasking or even gamers who want to stream or record gameplay. The company works with developers to create interactive content and secondary display.

The Asus dual-shielded laptop features an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 graphics, a 15.6-inch screen with a 14-inch secondary display, two-way AI noise reduction and enhanced speakers.

This 13.3-inch business laptop is for working from home and constantly in video calls.

It offers four wide-range microphones that use AI to optimize sound, plus it has a 5-megapixel camera instead of a 720p camera. There is also EyeSafe technology to reduce eye strain after prolonged use.

The HP Elite Folio uses a 2-in-1 design that allows you to switch between laptop and tablet depending on the task. When in tablet mode, you can use the HP Elite Slim Active Pen to mark documents. The stylus fits in the built-in storage slot above the keyboard, where it can be charged even when not in use.

This hybrid machine is powered by Qualcomm’s 8cx Gen 2 Arm processor, which HP claims helps Elite Folio provide 24.5 hours of local media playback before the battery runs out.

Business laptops have been a big topic at CES and the ThinkPad X1 Titanium Yoga is no exception.

Lenovo’s latest 2-in-1 has a 13.5-inch screen and is less than half an inch thick with a thickness of 0.45 inches. It comes in a solid-looking titanium finish, runs on Intel’s 11th-generation processors, and features four remote microphones for video calling. It also features human presence recognition to automatically lock your device when you leave.

The LG Gram 17 presses a 17-inch screen the size of a 15-inch laptop, although other LG Gram models were announced at CES 2021, including the LG Gram 16, LG Gram 14 and convertible 2-in-1 designs for the 16-inch and 14-inch models. LG equips the entire range with a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Razer offers a ton of spec improvements in its range of 2,021 Blade 15 and Pro 17 gaming laptops, including QHD screens. You can even get a 1440p QHD display with a fast refresh rate.

In addition, they have built-in Nvidia’s G-Sync variable refresh rate technology. Higher-end Blade laptops also come with Nvidia’s new RTX 3000 series graphics chips. The Blade 15 Advanced – Razer’s name for the more powerful model – features an RTX 3070 and a QHD screen with G-Sync. It will start at $ 2499.

Samsung’s original Galaxy Chromebook received an update and a lower price. Called the Galaxy Chromebook 2, it starts at $ 549.99 compared to the price of the previous model of $ 999.99.
