Davis Webb can spend the week making his best impression of Sam Darnold.
Former Giants and Jets quarterback has signed with the practice team of the Bills. Buffalo just so happens to be a Jets & # 39; Week 1 contender.
"It's something like this league, man. This is business, "Darnold said Monday. "He's just crazy. I talked to him yesterday. He just said, "I'll see you in a week." It's crazy to think that everything that happens and happens so fast. But I'm glad he signed somewhere. I'll be really happy to see him next week. "
Webb signed into the Jets training squad last year after being sacked by the Giants and was on the active roster by November. He can spend this week serving as Bills' scout team in practice, which means he will play the role of Darnold against billing.
"He has seen me play and see what I've been doing before hitting and all this for the last year or so. We hope he has already taken it down, "said Darnold with a smile.
Accounts Coach Sean McDermott refutes a question about using Webb for his knowledge of the Jets offense.
"We don't do it for ̵
"I think it's a great addition for us," said head coach Adam Gass. "He has done a lot of really good things with this group, helping these guys. It was the right time for him. He is excited about the opportunity. "
Wide receiver Robbie Anderson (calf) and cornerback Truman Johnson (belt) are "trending in the right direction" for Sunday's season opener, Gass said. Recently, they have both missed training time.
Right guard Brian Winters missed time at training camp with a shoulder injury, but declared himself "painless" on Monday.
"It was just a minor blow," he said. "I'm totally good right now, and I'll be good for the season."
The Jets start line doesn't play together at all in any preseason games, but Winters doesn't believe that will be a problem for the veteran group.
RB Eli McGuire, after being sacked by the Jets on Saturday, signed with the Browns. The Browns will play Jets in Week 2.
The gas that was wearing a beard training camp was freshly shaven for the first week.
"Right then, I felt right," he said with a smile.
Bearded Winters said he was disappointed.
"Today I told him, 'You look like a completely different dude,'" Winters said.
The Jets re-signed LB Albert McClellan, opening a competition by placing OL Brent Qvale (knee) on the injured reserve.
The team also announced that it has signed WR / PR Greg Dortch, RB Josh Adams and TE Ian Bunting for his practice squad. One open space remains.
