7;e-4 lunar spacecraft landing and rover have resumed work on the 23rd lunar day, according to the China National Space Administration’s Center for Lunar Research and Space Program.

The landing was activated at 11:56 a.m. on Sunday after the Yutu-2 rover woke up at 6:57 p.m. on Saturday. The couple survived 647 Earth days on the far side of the moon.

During this period of the lunar day, equivalent to 14 Earth days, the rover will travel northwest to the distributed basalt zone or high-reflectance impact craters.

It will use an infrared imaging spectrometer to perform spectral analysis on a rock about 30 centimeters in diameter along the way.

Scientific payloads carried by the rover include a panoramic camera, an infrared imaging spectrometer, a neutral atomic detector and lunar radar.
