WEST JORDAN, Utah – Facing an unimaginable loss, a neighborhood gathers behind a grieving family.
Friday, Miles Moffat, 12, died in a car accident in the Mountain View corridor and 9000 south. His brother, who is driving, is seriously injured.
“Everyone loved him,” said Rachel Harbert, a mother and family friend of the Moffat family. “I studied it in church. He was always the first to volunteer on the edge of his seat because he wanted to be elected and he wanted to help. He was super cute and funny. “
Instead of grief, the Harbert family and other members of the community decided to do something.
The children from the neighborhood organized a stand for lemonade on Saturday.
“It was hard for me because we were going to play a lot,”
“I just felt it was good to do for their family,” added Devon Harbert, who attends school with Miles.
The Harbert family collected dozens of notes of support and love from friends and strangers from the Moffat family. They also raised more than $ 5,000 to help pay for funeral and medical expenses.
“I think everyone is hurting,” Rachel Harbert said. “Sometimes we don’t know what to say to comfort people. We do not know how to help. If we just ask what to do, they may not even know. So we just jump in and do what we can. “
If you missed fundraising this weekend, this GoFundMe was created to help the Moffat family.
