The Democratic official from Texas, who last week called Senator Tim Scott, RS.C., a “halo” on Twitter, resigned from his position after a reaction.
Lamar County Democratic Party Chairman Gary O’Connor announced his resignation in a statement Tuesday, days after sparking a genuine storm online, calling Scott an “halo” in a Facebook post that has since been deleted.
O’Connor apologized for pointing Scott with the racial stick, which refers to a black man who is perceived as acting white.
DEMOCRATES SCOTT’S SILENCE TO DIRECT “UNCLE TIM”
“I deeply and sincerely regret my inappropriate and offensive use of the racist term I used to describe Senator Tim Scott on my Facebook page,”
“As a result, I feel compelled to propose my resignation as chairman of the Lamar County Democratic Party for consideration by the county executive committee,” he added.

O’Connor’s Facebook post followed Scott’s refutation of Biden’s speech at a joint congressional meeting last week and drew condemnation from Texas Republicans.
Texas Republican Chairman Alan West has announced that he will send a “gift” of Oreo cookies to O’Connor and Democrats from Lamar County until O’Connor’s resignation.
Freshman Pat Fallon’s spokesman, Texas, gutted O’Connor for his words, calling racial slander “unforgivable” in a press release Friday.
“Gary O’Connor’s comment against Senator Tim Scott is disgusting, offensive and unforgivable. Both he and the entire Lamar County Democratic Party should be ashamed of this racist behavior,” Fallon said.
Fallon called on O’Connor to apologize and resign upon his release, and called on the Texas Democratic Party and the NAACP to denounce the racist declaration.

Scott has faced a wave of racial attacks by progressives after making his denial of Biden to Congress last week.
Progressives called Scott “Uncle Tim” – a game of the “Uncle Tom” race – introducing a diversion to popular Twitter topics for hours.
Democrats in Congress – whose platform vehemently opposes racism – have remained silent about the slander against Scott that has prevailed among their voting bases.
