A powerful mural by the late Chadwick Boseman was unveiled at the center of Disney on Thursday. Created by author and artist Nicholas Smith, the image is of Boseman exchanging a Wakanda salute with a child wearing a Black Panther mask.

“This one is special. My King Chad tribute is now on a wall displayed in downtown Disney,” Smith wrote on Instagram along with several photos of his work. “It’s a full-blown moment: my last two projects as Disney Imagineer last summer worked on the Avengers Children’s Hospital and Campus project. For millions of children, T’Challa was a legend bigger than life and no one more worthy to fill these shoes by Chadwick Boseman. “

Smith continued, “I am so grateful to be able to honor Chadwick’s life and purpose in this way. I am grateful to the Disney family for supporting my journey as an artist.”

Boseman died on August 28 at the age of 43. The news of his death shocked legions of fans and Hollywood.

While Disneyland is currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the shopping and dining area at downtown Disney is open for business.
