California’s Democrat Norma Torres said during a House Rules debate today that “there should be no doubt” that Vice President Mike Pence should invoke the 25th Amendment and remove President Trump from office. .

Torres said he was among lawmakers locked on the balcony of the House of Commons during the January 6 attack on the Capitol.

“I was one of the 1

2 trapped in the gallery of the House. I heard the shot. I saw the smoke from the tear gas spread and I watched an officer without protective equipment face a raging crowd right in front of the room. He was crawling along the entire length of this balcony. “I was in the last evacuation group. We ran through the halls, the stairs, near a crowd that was held on the ground with weapons. I took shelter for four to five hours in a room that was crowded side by side with people,” Torres said.

Torres said that when she was finally evacuated from the Capitol at 3:00 PM ET and “ran for my life,” she received a call from her son.

“I answered my son Christopher’s phone. The call lasted 27 seconds. All I could say was dear, I’m fine. I’m running for my life. And I hung up,” Torres said.

The MP also called on his colleague to support the resolution of the Democratic Republic of Jamie Ruskin, calling on Pence to “immediately use his powers under Section 4 of the 25th Amendment to convene and mobilize chief executive officers in the Cabinet to declare the obvious horrified nation “.

“I call on my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to join me in supporting this resolution, but above all I call on Vice President Pence to do the right thing,” Torres said.

“Ruskin’s resolution is not a political document, it does not take a party position. And anyone who claims otherwise is irresponsible and continues to pursue a hateful program of Donald Trump,” she continued.

Torres also sent a message to Trump: “How dare you! How dare you incite a crowd to stop the last step in verifying our election simply because they want to choose whose vote should be counted and whose vote should not be counted.”
