ABC and “The Goldbergs” paid tribute to the late actor George Seagal on Wednesday after the broadcast of his latest episode in the hit sitcom.
Segal’s wife, Sonia, confirmed that he died in March due to bypass complications. He had already filmed the episode, which aired on April 7, but no one at the time knew it would be his last. In honor of the star, who played Albert “Pops” Solomon, the grandfather of three children in the 80s, the show ended with a loving tribute to his character, which highlighted some of his best moments from the show.
Clips of Pops dances, dresses in a Ghostbusters costume with his grandson, hugs the family and hints at women played in past scenes of his character. The video ends with a shot of Pops embracing the Goldberg family as he utters the line: “If you just believe in yourself like I do, you can̵

The video, which was posted on Twitter, ends with a simple message that the actors and the comedy team will miss their grandfather on screen. After the episode ended, Wendy McLendon-Covey, who plays the matriarch of the Goldberg family and the screen daughter of Pops, paid tribute to the late Segal on Twitter.
“Tonight’s episode was the last one George shot, but not the last of our season. At the time we shot it, we had no idea it would be our last with him,” she tweeted.
The star added: “We had so much fun filming this episode, and George was still playing for anything. Always a complete professional and a joy to be around!”

She also shared a photo of Segal from the show, which reads: “We will love you forever. We will see each other in our dreams.”
