The Hazmat incident at Woburn Red Robin sends 3 employees to the hospital

WOBURN, Mass. ̵

1; Three people were hospitalized after a Woburn Red Robin incident, the city's police chief confirmed to Boston 25 News. All the victims are employees of the restaurant.

The incident occurred when someone in the restaurant mixed cleaning chemicals together, resulting in the evacuation of the restaurant. Three people were decontaminated outside Red Robin before being transported to the Lahi Clinic.

This incident comes nearly two weeks after a chemical incident in Burlington Buffalo Wild Wings killed an employee and sent 10 others to the hospital.

A spokesman for Red Robin issued the following statement regarding the incident: [19659015] "About : 30 hrs Local time on Tuesday, November 19, at the Red Robin Restaurant in Woburn, Massachusetts, an apparent chemical reaction involving cleaning materials appeared, and immediately after the reaction, the restaurant manager on duty evacuated all team members and guests from the restaurant and called 911. (At the time of the incident, 8 members of the team were working at the restaurant, including 2 executives el.)

First responders arrived at the restaurant to investigate the incident and to check the well-being of team members and others who may have been in the restaurant at the time of the incident. Local health service representatives also arrived at the restaurant for [19659009] As the cause of the incident is still being investigated, we defer to the first responders for any further details regarding the potential cause of the chemical reaction and the status of the member ETE team and others who were in the restaurant at the time of the incident While the incident is being investigated, the restaurant is closed until further notice and will reopen only after receiving permission from the health department and other relevant authorities. "
