9 after attending the concert to disclose their presence during the investigation of the case. The press release said that the information gathered during the investigation was confidential and used to better understand and trace the origins of the cases in the community.

Neiman said the health department has pledged to inform the public that it may have been exposed to COVID-19 and to monitor for symptoms, as many people attended the event and tracking contracts would be impossible for its team.

“Meetings of this nature and at this time can quickly become super distributors,” Neiman said in a statement. “Currently, the focus is not on whether the event was right or wrong, we just need to quickly identify the cases and their close contacts in order to have a chance to control the disease and prevent an outbreak.”

The concert was attended by three groups, vendors, fireworks and the participation of the American Republic and the candidate for governor of the Republican Party Greg Gianforte.

Event organizers worked with Lewis and Clark Public Health before the event, and county health officials signed a plan to protect attendees from the virus.
