HBO insists on playing a serial adaptation of The last of us.
The premium cable outlet embarked on the drama based on the hugely popular video game franchise by Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and the writer and creative director of the game, Neil Druckman. HBO and Sony Pictures TV co-produced with PlayStation Productions, Word Games and game developer Naughty Dog.

HBO put The last of us in development in March. This is the latest video game franchise to get first-class cable processing. Showtime is also working on a series based on Hello, which is set to premiere sometime next year.
Mazin and Druckmann executive products The last of us with Carolyn Strauss (Chernobyl, Game of Thrones), Evan Wells by Naughty Dog and Qizilbash by PlayStation Productions and Carter Swan. Johann Rank (Chernobyl) was set to guide the pilot, but had to drop out due to a planning conflict.
