Like Penny Marshall’s 1992 film, the series will tell the story of a generation of women who dream of playing professional baseball. The show will also explore race and sexuality, following the journey of an entirely new ensemble of characters as they carve their own paths to the field, both inside and outside the League.

“There’s no crying in baseball or Prime Video,” said Vernon Sanders, a television contributor to Amazon Studios. “Will and Abby have made a classic film, recreating it for a new generation with new characters and their own fresh, modern vision on a harmless story of big dreams, friendship, love and, of course, baseball. We are so excited to partner with Sony to bring this emotional and exciting new series to our Prime Video customers around the world. “
The series stars Jacobson and Shante Adams, along with D̵
“Twenty years ago, Penny Marshall told us a story about women playing professional baseball that had been largely neglected until then,” said Jacobson and Graham. “We grew up obsessed with the film, like everyone else. Three years ago, we approached Sony with the idea of telling a new, still-neglected set of these stories. With the help of an extremely talented team of collaborators, an amazing cast and Amazon’s dedicated support for this project, we feel beyond luck and excited to achieve the lives of these characters. To achieve their dreams, they needed sand, fire, authenticity, wild imagination and a clumsy sense of humor. We hope to turn the audience into a story with all these qualities. “
“League of Their Own” is produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television in conjunction with Field Trip Productions. Together with Graham and Jacobson, the executive director of “Hailey Viengo” on Field Trip produced. Jamie Babbitt is an executive producer and directs the pilot. Elizabeth Kyo is a co-executive producer.
“Abby and Will have done a masterful job of embodying this timeless classic. We are very grateful to our Amazon partners for bringing this incredibly important and important story to audiences around the world, ”said Jeff Frost, President of Sony Pictures Television.
