The leak in Windows 10X reveals another attempt to take over Chrome OS

Windows 10X was to be Microsoft’s dual-screen operating system, powering devices from many major manufacturers. But that plan changed last year when the company revealed it would focus on single-screen devices. You know, normal laptops and tablets. So what will Windows 10X actually be now? It obviously looks a lot like Microsoft on Google’s Chrome OS, according to Paul Tourot, who is testing an expired version of the operating system.

Early Windows 10X screens show a dramatically simplified version of Windows 1

0, with a simple setup experience, a clean desktop with centered taskbar icons, and a Start menu that fills the entire screen. Each application runs in full screen and it looks as if you can install software only from the Microsoft Store. Windows 10X is essentially very similar to the ill-fated Windows 10S. Eventually, Microsoft switched to Windows 10 mode instead of a standalone operating system.
