LOS ANGELES (November 19, 2019)) – With an emphasis on axis playing the same dynamic and luxurious driving characteristics that the LC 500 flagship is known for, the 2021 Lexus LC 500 Convertible makes its global debut today at the 201

9 Los Angeles International Auto Show. Expanding the LC Door Aspiration family, the LC 500 Convertible offers an additional way to stimulate the senses – with the top down. The exterior of the new LC convertible stylishly combines the unique body line with the character of the convertible, achieving a sophisticated profile with the top open or closed.

Designed from the top, bottom

The LC 500 convertible delivers 'Even sharper, more sophisticated' driving characteristics with a low center of gravity, optimum weight distribution and focus on performance-driven controls impressive structural rigidity. Lexus engineers have relied on computer-aided engineering (CAE) analysis and evaluation in the real world to match the driving performance of their passenger compartment, and extensive research and development has delivered impressive results.

The engineers intended to maintain such dynamics of control. The LC 500 coupe while enhancing the rigidity of the chassis by adding and moving various structural brackets. The LC Convertible suspension is specifically tuned to complement the subtle weight changes between the two platforms, as reducing the unpredictable weight in the front suspension improves overall travel. At the rear, engineers were able to further improve structural rigidity by remodeling and relocating the rear suspension tower. The weight in the rear of the car is reduced by using a lightweight aluminum suspension made of aluminum suspension, while the shock absorber is used to improve ride comfort.

Front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive LC convertibles can expect similarly breathtaking body performance thanks to the powerful combination of a 5.0-liter V8 engine coupled with the hassle-free 10-speed Direct-Shift automatic transmission. The naturally aspirated direct injection aspirated V8 is rated to generate 471 horsepower at 7,100 rpm and 398 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm.

Soft top, solid Demeanor

The soft top design of the LC Convertible is features an innovative folding mechanism that incorporates a tone cover when stored. The design allowed engineers to focus on accentuating the elegant lines of the convertible without significant intrusion into the trunk and cabin space, which could be fitted with a heavier, wider rigid top. The curves of the body are further emphasized by the silhouette of the convertible through several key changes. The rear
trunk is accentuated by a "kicked" design that slightly raises its profile while the spoiler surface is extended laterally to emphasize the low, wide position of the car. The central brake light is now integrated into the boot lid, unlike the passenger compartment, where it rests on the top of the rear window.

The four-layer soft top is designed to maintain the flowing line of the roof of the passenger compartment without the visible support frame through the fabric. The roofing material itself is carefully selected and manufactured to provide optimum tension, to minimize wrinkling and to improve sound insulation. The roof can be opened or closed at speeds up to 31 mph, while an animated panel display shows progress at the top. One of the most impressive aspects is the time it takes: approximately 15 seconds to open and approximately 16 seconds to close *.

The upper part is available in two colors: black and beige. Convertible exterior paint options include Ultra White, Smoky Granite, Tequid Platinum, Atomic Silver, Obsidian, Caviar, Infrared **, Cadmium Orange, Flare Yellow ** and Nightfall Mica. Depending on the exterior color chosen, there are three interior colors available: black, red and toasted caramel.

Shown at the Los Angeles International Auto Show is the LC 500 Series of Convertible Inspirations. This special edition is limited to only 100 pieces and will be available in structural blue with white semi-aniline leather trim, unique blue tip, gray headlight trims, side trims and taillamp sets. 21-inch chrome / black wheels are available as standard. More details to follow in a later post.

Top Down, Round Year

With the new LC convertible, even if the weather cools down, that doesn't mean the top has to stay. In fact, the HVAC system is designed to automatically adjust the temperature regardless of whether the upper is raised or lowered, and if the upper is with throat heaters down, they are designed to keep the upper body warm. A Lexus air conditioning concierge with upper body heating automatically controls the air conditioning, seat heaters, door heaters and steering wheel heaters to ensure that the cabin is at the perfect temperature even when the weather is not out. The HVAC system is also optimized to send warm or cold air into the back of the driver's hands when gripping the steering wheel.

Engineers also took care to ensure that the driving experience was ideal for all passengers. The cabin is designed to reduce wind noise thanks to the unique belt-strap shape and rear molding to suppress wind from entering. The transparent polycarbonate wind deflector helps to limit the intake of unwanted air into the cab during city and highway driving so that passengers can enjoy comfortable top-down conversations. There is also a wind screen available which further reduces the wind buffer at higher speeds. Active Noise Control (ANC) combines sound insulation and absorption techniques to help suppress unwanted roughness from entering the cabin.

While efforts are made to prevent certain noises, the powerful roar of the naturally aspirated V8 engine of the LC family is a sound for pleasure. In order to hear the engine's throaty voice while the top is down, the engine's input impulses are naturally transmitted through a diaphragm into a sound tube that carries the sounds, not the air itself, into the cabin to enhance the V8's murmur (similar to the system leased to Lexus LFA). There is no electronic sound generation here! To further increase the aggressive tone of the engine's exhaust and boost the computer, a computer-controlled valve balances the fine line between optimizing the exhaust backpressure and tone and the exhaust volume at higher engine speeds. Like its coupe brethren, the LC 500 Convertible will come with an impressive 10.3-inch, split-screen multimedia display providing instant, simultaneous access to audio or climate controls and

however, there are important convertible-specific safety features, such as active rollers that are designed to extend upwards when rolling over. When not unfolded, these rollers are hidden from view to maintain the graceful silhouette of the convertible when the top is down.
