At least three people were killed when a Long Island Railroad train collided with a Westbury rail vehicle in the evening.
The incident happened after 19:00. at the crossroads of the School Street. The train was at 6:36.
NASA's Police Commissioner Patrick Rider says a vehicle may have tried to beat the train at the crossing that had lowered its guards.
A helicopter 12 over the scene of the incident He says all three of the passengers have died.
After striking the car, Ryder says the train has hit the platform and derailed. So far, authorities say six of them have suffered minor injuries.
Shattered travelers say they heard an explosion and saw what looked like fireballs.
The authorities closed the School Street in the Union and the Railways in both directions.
LIRR says the service has been suspended on Ronkonkoma and Huntington / Port Jefferson.
Earlier in the day, the LIRR train hit a man on the slopes west of Freeport Station, stopping serving the branch of Babylon.
