The Microsoft Flight Simulator wallpapers on macOS look just as good

Many of us find great things to work on while at home, and I think Matt Birchler is taking the cake this week. It, like much of the internet, is starting to run Microsoft Flight Simulatorand it uses absolutely unrealistic details in the game to recreate some of the more iconic wallpapers from the latest editions of macOS.

To recreate these images, Matt flew to any location, then used Flight Simulator to position the camera, set the focal length and adjust the time of day with in-game controls. Then, with a little magic for post-processing in Adobe Lightroom, he created the images below.

Flight Simulator “It̵

7;s a fun do-it-yourself game, and I was looking for interesting things to do while flying around,” Birchler said. On the edge. He cited the video as inspiration, where a group of photographers scouted and recreated the photos in person. “They basically did the same thing, but in real life.”

Instead of a multi-day tourist trip, I think it’s a pretty great substitute. This is a good reminder that we can all use the tools available and use them in unexpected, creative ways.

Check out the recreated side by side below or see them all directly on the Birchler blog.
