This update comes in response to the coronavirus pandemic to help people know what to expect when they head to a public place. Google says it has expanded its function to include more open spaces, such as beaches and parks, as well as key locations such as grocery stores, gas stations, laundries and pharmacies.
Once the feature is available, all you have to do is open the Maps app on your Android or iPhone ($ 699 on Amazon) or navigate to Google Maps in your browser and navigate the map until you find where you want to go. Employment information will appear on the map, so you don’t have to look for a specific place to see how crowded it is. It will say something like “I’m not busy,” “Busier than usual,” or “No matter how busy.” Google says that this new feature of Maps will be released in the coming weeks.
