Yesterday I picked up my new Pixel 4XL and instead of rushing to try out the new camera, radar features or the terrifyingly quick face scan, the first I did with the new phone, it was … a game with some interactive wallpapers Pokémon .
Pixel 4 has a application called Pokémon Wave Hello which is part of the Sword and Shield Promotion Tutorial / Test Tutorial for Cell Phones and gestures. He asks you to swipe around to open Pokeball, then swipe for a little while while interacting with the Pokemon that pops up, waving them around and giving them pets.
Everything was completed very quickly and were there all was for him it would not be worth writing here. But once you are done with the tutorial, you can set Pokemon as a daily wallpaper, and the wallpaper retains all of the demonstration's interactivity.
So every time you swipe your phone, the Pokemon is on the screen – and it could be Pikachu, Eevee, or Sword & Shield three starters – will come back. In a very nice touch, Pokemon will even follow your finger around your head and eyes if you drag it across the screen, and the background will change depending on what time of day it is and the time outside (and when late, Pokemon will sleep).
There's nothing that will make you buy a Pixel, and even doing it isn't exactly the kind of thing that will keep you interested with months. But if you are a fan of Pokemon and are already thinking of picking up one of these phones, this is a pretty cool way to show your friends the phone movement features!
